Following up on my recent AHCMC blog post, I am about to kick off part one, ‘Kicking Up Your Social Media’, of the PR + MKTG BOOTCAMP event series for the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. The Writer’s Center in Bethesda will soon be buzzing with registered attendees checking in and catching up and some early chatter on the event has already started on Twitter (follow the stream at #creativemoco.) I am thrilled to be sharing some insider tips on social media with some very cool local arts and humanities organizations today.
At the rate we’ve seen new social platforms spring up, in the next 90 minutes alone, I’d expect there will be even more social networks introduced, new blogs launched and plenty of new social media tools discovered. We won’t be able to cover it all in today’s session, but we will dive in deep and swim through some case studies from C.Fox and around the web, as well as spark the discussion of tracking, engaging, and action steps.
Speaking of new networks – Technorati says 175,000 new blogs are created each day – that’s two new blogs every second! (My goodness, that is a lot of content.) To capture current social networks and channels, Brian Solis and Jess3 created a great display which we will examine during the event today.
Which platforms do you find work best for engaging your audience? How did you find where you audience is? These are questions we are tackling today – so feel free to share your experiences below or on Twitter between 10 and 11:30 today when the #creativemoco Twitter chat will mirror the discussion set to take place at the Writer’s Center.
Oh, and be sure to check out Shop Talk next week for an event recap and photos, plus answers to all of the questions we won’t be able to get to in this morning’s session.
